The Waiting game
It’s not wet or dry, but how to get less wet
The clouds and rain are pushing through Winchester this morning.
I have decided to wait them out. There is no getting out of being wet today, but I think I can minimize it by timing my departure. So after a ‘continental’ breakfast, I am sitting in my hotel room, sipping coffee, reading, writing and waiting for the worst of the weather to push through. Once the rain stops, I’ll give it a bit to get ahead of me, then launch for Antietam and Gettysburg. Another front is coming up behind this current one, so I’ll likely not be able to out run it. Could be I wait to walk through Gettysburg tomorrow, we’ll see.
Well, as I sit here and wait (9:10), it looks as though the rain has stopped. So I am going to finish packing up, getting rain gear on and contemplate actually leaving and heading into some Civil War History. I have read that Antietam was the most bloody one day battle of the Civil War, but I wonder how it fits strategically in the scope of the war. Was it a turning point for the Union, or just a set back for the Confederate army? I have had trouble finding that info. Hopefully the tour will have the answer.

If you see my Dad, he's a major civil war buff!
